Leasedrive survey reveals half of company car drivers want motorway speed limits to remain the same
A survey on company car drivers' attitudes to speed limits by Leasedrive Group, the largest independent privately-owned vehicle management group in the UK, reveals a 50:50 split between those who want to see motorway speed limits raised and those who want them to remain the same. However, when it comes to speed limits in urban areas, an overwhelming 80.5% want the 30mph speed limit retained.
Commercial director, Roddy Graham said: "Company car drivers appear to be far more at ease with current motorway speed limits than they were five years ago. This is perhaps a reflection of the weight of traffic on our roads today."
Out of 231 company drivers questioned, 49.4% wanted to see the motorway speed limit remain the same while 50.6% wanted it changed. Among the latter, 76.5% wanted to see the speed limit raised to 80mph, with only 15.1% wanting it raised to 90mph. When it came to the 30mph limit, only 19.5% wanted a change. Of these, 67.4% wanted it reduced to 20mph while controversially 32.6% wanted it raised to 40mph.
On the subject of speed cameras, an overwhelming 82.6% wanted speed cameras to be clearly visible and not hidden.
